NTP Technology: New Audio Interfaces Debut

NTP Technology will present its new Digital Audio Denmark (DAD) product line at the NAB Show in Las Vegas from April 14 to 17, 2024.

The exhibit, located at booth SU1045, will feature the DAD Thunder|Core series, which includes several models tailored for various professional audio settings such as music production, studio and location recording, and film sound post-production.

DAD AX64: Flagship Audio Interface

The DAD AX64 model serves as the series’ flagship interface. Mikael Vest, the Sales Director at NTP Technology, highlights its superior preamps and AD/DA converters, which are well-regarded in the industry for their high-resolution audio capabilities initially developed for Super Audio CD (SACD) recordings. The AX64 is a versatile unit occupying 2U of rack space, providing 256 Thunderbolt and 256 Dante channels. It features extensive monitor control ranging from mono to immersive audio setups and includes 128 channels of SPQ loudspeaker processing with a total of 1024 equalizer bands and adjustable channel delay. This model also offers expansive customization through additional I/O options and compatibility with various Dante-enabled devices.

DAD AX Center: Compact Audio Management

The more compact AX Center is a 1U high audio interface and router designed for easy integration in different environments, from studio racks to portable recording setups. It is the central hub for audio conversion and monitor control, equipped with a 512 x 64 channel summing processor and 128-channel SPQ processing for precise loudspeaker correction. Its internal routing matrix can handle 984 x 984 channels, allowing extensive flexibility in directing inputs and outputs across multiple destinations.

DAD Core 256: Ultra-Compact Interface

The smallest unit in the series, the Core 256, is an ultra-compact interface ideal for intensive digital routing and monitoring tasks in audio post-production, recording studios, and installed audio environments. Despite its size, it supports robust connectivity options including Dante, MADI, and ADAT, and comes with comprehensive DADman routing control. This model can be integrated into a single 1U rack space alongside an Apple Mac Mini, making it a key component for facilities using immersive audio technologies like Dolby Atmos.

Technical Specifications and Compatibility

The DAD Thunder|Core series boasts minimal hardware latency of nine samples and supports high-resolution audio with 32-bit floating point processing. It accommodates up to 256 bidirectional channels at 48 kHz and 96 kHz, 128 channels at 192 kHz, and 64 channels at 384 kHz. The interfaces are compatible with Apple Silicon-powered devices and operating systems from macOS Big Sur onwards, as well as Windows 10 and later versions using the ASIO Thunder|Core driver.
