Super Bowl 2024: Nucleus Pico 90° Global Shutter Camera Premiere

Antelope Camera Systems has unveiled its latest innovation, the Nucleus Pico 90° global shutter camera.

This cutting-edge device was notably utilized during the 2024 NFL Super Bowl, where ten Nucleus Pico 90° cameras provided viewers with live ultra-slow-motion footage.

Key Features Highlight

The Nucleus Pico 90° camera boasts several impressive features:

  • It can shoot at 250 frames per second (FPS) at Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution.
  • The camera is designed to be extremely slim, with a depth of just 36 mm, making it ideal for discreet placement in various settings such as sports fields and TV studio sets.
  • It offers over 120 minutes of continuous recording without the need for a trigger.
Design and Utility

The slim design of the Nucleus Pico 90° enables it to be hidden in locations like goalposts and pylons, offering camera angles closer to the action. For added versatility, an optional lens motor unit can be attached. This design not only enhances the camera’s concealability but also expands its utility in live sports and studio environments.

Versatility and Control

The Nucleus Pico 90° supports both super slow-motion and real-time, normal-speed imaging. This dual functionality is made possible by the simultaneous live output and Super Motion output. The camera system includes a specialized SSD server for super slow-motion, capable of capturing an entire event for up to two hours. An industry-standard remote control panel allows operators to manage camera functions and instantly replay moments of interest.

Advanced Features

The camera comes equipped with a Zoom Extraction System, allowing operators to digitally zoom, reframe, and extract specific scenes with precision. This feature is accessible through an intuitive interface, enabling dynamic zoom effects during live feeds and slow-motion replays.

Technical Specifications
  • Camera Head: Features a Sony CMOS sensor, offering 12.4MP resolution and a global shutter speed ranging from 5 microseconds to 1 second. The camera supports a frame rate of up to 250 FPS at UHD and 480 FPS at Full HD (FHD). It measures 60x36x164mm and weighs 410 grams, with additional dimensions for lens attachments.
