NUGEN Audio Announces New Aligner Plugin

NUGEN Audio Announces New Aligner Plugin tkt1957.comAutomatic phase and alignment tool designed to streamline workflows to free up more time for the creative aspects of projects.

NUGEN Audio has recently unveiled its latest plugin called Aligner, which offers an automatic phase and alignment solution designed to streamline workflows and enhance the creative process in audio projects. Originally introduced as a “stealth” product exclusively for NUGEN subscribers who participated in the company’s annual survey, Aligner now boasts an improved algorithm and is available to all users.

When using multiple microphones to record a sound source, phase or polarity issues can sometimes arise between different tracks. This can occur due to factors such as microphone distance, causing the audio to reach one track before the other. While these issues may be subtle, they can result in a recording sounding “thin” or “weak.”

“With Aligner, you can avoid fixing these issues manually, which will allow more time for creativity,” says Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe, product specialist, NUGEN Audio. “It can be utilized in various instances, including when lining up a multitrack recording with microphones at different distances, or where the polarity of one microphone is reversed. Users can also apply the tool to ensure a microphone signal and DI signal are lined up correctly.”

The plugin offers two types of bypass controls: one for simultaneously bypassing all tracks and another for individually bypassing specific channels. Users have the flexibility to select a reference track to which other tracks should align.

Moreover, Aligner incorporates a polarity parameter that indicates whether any tracks have experienced polarity reversals during plugin usage. For those who prefer manual alignment, the plugin also provides the option to make sample delay or phase adjustments manually.

With the release of Aligner, NUGEN Audio aims to simplify and expedite the process of phase and alignment correction, allowing audio professionals to focus more on their creative work and less on tedious technical tasks.
