At IBC2024, nxtedition invites visitors to experience operating a fully automated XR mixed reality studio gallery via VR headsets.

This innovative setup enables attendees to navigate a studio interface seamlessly, demonstrating the advanced integration of XR mixed reality into live production workflows. The experience is part of the IBC Accelerator project, Evolution of the Control Room – Leveraging XR, Voice, AI & HTML-Based Graphics Solutions, in which nxtedition is actively involved.

Integration of Meta’s Llama 3 LLM

nxtedition continues its commitment to open-source AI, integrating Meta’s open-source Llama 3 large language model (LLM) into its platform for this year’s IBC. This integration enhances search functionality, allowing users to perform natural language queries. The system’s semantic understanding capabilities streamline content discovery, eliminating the need for precise keyword searches and making the process more efficient and user-friendly.

Enhanced Voice-to-Text and Social Media Automation

The Llama 3 model is further integrated with OpenAI’s Whisper for voice-to-text transcription. This feature automates the generation of content titles and descriptions for social media posts based on transcriptions. Additionally, Llama 3 can assist journalists by suggesting new story angles for scripts. All these AI functionalities are embedded within nxtedition, ensuring no additional subscription or third-party service costs for users.

nxtedition’s non-linear editing (NLE) system now includes AI-assisted text editing, additional graphics tracks, multiple audio tracks with audio metering, and seamless integration with DaVinci Resolve. The updated version also offers automated thumbnail previews for quick video previewing directly in the rundown and a new map view to display the GPS location of any asset on the platform.

Participation in IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme

nxtedition is participating in the IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme with the project Evolution of the Control Room. This initiative explores the use of XR, voice, AI, and HTML-based graphics technologies to optimize live production workflows, helping production teams achieve their creative visions without needing advanced technical expertise.

nxtedition consolidates multiple functionalities into a single platform using an agile microservices approach. This includes scriptwriting, content acquisition, media management, live on-air automation, channel playout, and publishing to various platforms like VOD, web, and social media. The system allows collaborative work on scripts, media, or rundowns for users with the necessary permissions.
