The Telos Alliance, recognized globally for its expertise in broadcast audio for over 30 years, has expanded its product line with the launch of Omnia Forza FM.
This new addition enhances the Forza family, targeting FM radio with advanced software capabilities.
Deployment and Technical Features
Omnia Forza FM, similar to its predecessor tailored for HD, DAB, and streaming audio (now known as Forza HDS), is provided as a software container. This container can be deployed on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers located on-premises or on cloud platforms such as AWS. The product is designed specifically for FM radio, optimizing both wideband and multiband processing stages to meet the sector’s specific requirements. It incorporates the “Silvio” clipper, crafted by Frank Foti, found in the Omnia.11 and includes features for HD-1 with an integrated diversity delay. Moreover, the FM stereo generator supports µMPX and linear MPX over IP outputs.
User Interface and Accessibility
Forza FM continues the use of a single-page HTML5 user interface (UI), first introduced with Forza HDS. This UI features “smart controls,” allowing users to modify several parameters with a single adjustment. This design aims to simplify operations for less experienced users, enabling them to achieve superior on-air sound effortlessly. However, the system still provides detailed controls for experienced professionals to fine-tune audio settings.
Industry Reception and Availability
Frank Foti, the founder of Omnia and Chairman of the Telos Alliance Board, shared the positive reception of Forza HDS among broadcasters. The anticipation for an FM-specific version has been growing, leading to the development of Forza FM. This eagerly awaited product is slated for release in May 2024 and will be available through the Omnia global partner network.
