The Ovide Koko, a 10-inch HDR Monitor/Recorder, recently received a firmware update enhancing its capabilities significantly.

Originally launched in 2022, this device can record from up to four 1080p60 cameras or a single 4K feed directly into a removable SSD using Apple ProRes format.

Featuring a 1920 x 1080 touchscreen, this HDR monitor supports the DCI-P3 color gamut, boasts a brightness of 1000 nits, and a 900:1 contrast ratio.

    Key features include:

    • A 10-inch HDR DCI-P3 touchscreen
    • Capability to record from four 1080p60 cameras or one 4K feed
    • Apple ProRes recording onto a removable SSD
    • Advanced digital cinema metadata workflow
    • Six 12G-SDI inputs and outputs

The Ovide Koko shares several functionalities with the Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+/Apollo, particularly in its ability to record multiple camera feeds. This similarity stems from Ovid’s acquisition of the technology from Convergent Design.

This monitor/recorder offers a versatile display mode, allowing for single, dual, or quad-view options. It comes with a broad range of inputs and outputs and offers a choice between V-mount and AB Gold mount battery plates.

Notable video assist functions include Rec-Stop-Play in/out, histogram, waveform, focus assist, zebra, false color, and LUTs. The device also allows for independent LUTs assignment for each output.

In the realm of digital cinema production, the Ovide Koko excels with its ability to automatically detect and record crucial metadata like focus, iris, zoom, balance, shutter, ISO, and more. This feature is vital for editors and collaborators in post-production workflows. The device is fully compatible with all OVIDE systems and includes a bidirectional analog audio input/output, a 3.5mm TRS headphone output, LAN Ethernet, and USB-C ports for future functionality enhancements. A sun hood is also part of the package.

Specifications of the Ovide Koko include:

    • Display: Capacitive TFT LCD Touchscreen

    • 8-bit color depth, 16.7 million colors
