OWC Debuts CFexpress 4.0 Reader

OWC Unveils USB4 CFexpress 4.0 Type B Card Reader

Other World Computing, commonly referred to as OWC, has launched a new card reader designed for CFexpress 4.0 Type B cards.

This latest addition aims to enhance the experience for users of their Atlas Pro and Ultra CFexpress 4.0 Type B storage solutions. Priced at $99.99, the card reader is marketed as offering quadruple the data transfer speed of USB 3.2 models.

CFexpress cards have emerged as the predominant choice for professionals in photography and filmmaking, with the CFexpress 4.0 standard introduced last summer further solidifying its position. This advancement has led to improved speed for both Type A and Type B cards.

Responding to these developments, OWC updated its Atlas Pro and Ultra CFexpress card series to align with the 4.0 standard. The release of the USB4 card reader marks the completion of this update.

Key Features of the OWC Atlas CFexpress 4.0 Type B Card Reader

OWC’s new card reader promises offloading speeds up to 3300MB/s, setting it apart as four times faster than predecessors based on USB 3.2 technology. It also maintains compatibility with CFexpress 2.0 cards, supporting them at their highest speed capabilities.

The reader’s design is straightforward and mobile-friendly, connecting via USB-C to laptops and mobile devices. It supports USB4 and USB3, along with Thunderbolt 4 and 3 for Mac users. The device is bus-powered, negating the need for an external power supply.

Constructed from aluminum, the card reader features a portable design with anti-slip rubber feet and a status LED. It incorporates a silent, high-efficiency cooling system to manage heat.

Compatibility extends to OWC’s Innergize software for both Mac and PC platforms, facilitating card health monitoring, performance restoration, and firmware updates.
