PageOS 6 Update: Streamlined Interface and New Features

SmallHD has released its new PageOS 6 operating system, which brings an updated, more streamlined interface to its range of monitors.

This release introduces several new features designed to enhance user experience and control.

PageOS Monitoring Solution

The PageOS 6 is a sophisticated, page-based software toolset featuring an intuitive user interface and user experience (UI/UX). It provides comprehensive control over various settings, including color, exposure, camera configurations, Look-Up Tables (LUTs), and more.

Fleet Control App

The Fleet Control App enables users to manage multiple monitors simultaneously. It facilitates the synchronization of settings, signal management, feed control, LUTs, and Color Pipes through Ethernet or WiFi connections.

WiFi Support

With PageOS 6, SmallHD now offers WiFi functionality via supported modules, allowing for wireless management and firmware updates using the Fleet Control App.

Upcoming Features

Press & Hold: This future feature will let users assign press-and-hold capabilities to function buttons, enabling quicker workflow adjustments. It will allow for previewing feeds or tools, accessing 1:1 pixel-zoom for precise focus, and applying pre-loaded LUTs.

Precision Control with Knobs: Users will soon be able to map various aspects of PageOS to knobs, utilizing click, turn, and capacitive touch functionalities for precise adjustments. This feature will support custom exposure, crop settings, and simultaneous use of multiple knobs.

Enhanced Color Management

The updated Color Pipe feature provides instant, clear information to speed up workflows. Integration with Pomfort Livegrade allows users to apply preloaded 3D LUTs to their SmallHD monitors. PageOS 6 also supports fast and accurate calibration, comparing SDR and HDR Log and Linear transforms, and alternative white point selections.

Improved Tools

Multi-Feed Display: Ultra 7 Monitors now support simultaneous display of multiple feeds, beneficial for multi-camera environments.

Updated EL Zone: Ed Lachman’s ASC stop-based exposure tool now supports wider dynamic range cameras, functioning like a virtual spot meter with stop-based exposure values replacing IRE values.

Upgraded Custom Exposure Assist: Users can build custom exposure settings on top of Spectrum 1, 2, monochrome, or clean passthrough video, with control over black clip, white clip, and middle gray for smoother transitions.

Additional Features

GPI Tally: A GPI-triggered tally overlay displays a red “recording” border around the feed on SmallHD 4K Monitors to indicate active recording.

Fine Tool Adjustments: Higher-resolution slider adjustments and a numpad allow for precise crop and sizing adjustments in increments as small as 0.1%.

Customizable Pages: Users can create and customize template Pages for tasks such as framing, focusing, and exposure judging.

Smart 5 + Smart 7 Monitors

These monitors now offer access to essential camera functions across various industry-standard camera systems. Users can anchor exposure, color, and recording functions on every Page, making it possible to review and adjust settings while using other PageOS tools. Camera control licenses and cables are sold separately.
