PAKAM Radio operates as a crucial broadcasting service in the remote areas of Kimberley and Pilbara in Western Australia, covering some of the most isolated communities globally.
Due to the extreme weather conditions that can cut off these regions for months, PAKAM Radio serves as a lifeline, offering emergency information, including cyclone warnings, to its listeners.
Diverse Programming for a Young Audience
The station primarily focuses on music, showcasing local and indigenous artists and featuring songs in traditional languages. Alongside music, the programming includes community announcements, local news, and interviews, all tailored to the specific interests of the region’s residents. With a significant young demographic in these remote areas, PAKAM Radio’s content is designed to appeal to all ages, but especially to the youth.
Technical Upgrade with AEQ Forum Split
In its latest technical upgrade, PAKAM Radio selected the AEQ Forum Split as its main broadcast studio’s digital console. Chosen for its ease of operation, durability, and high audio quality, the AEQ Forum IP Split is an ONAIR mixing console equipped with features essential for broadcasting, such as automatic monitor cut, cough cut, and signalling control. The upgrade was managed by AEQ’s local partner, Broadcast Components, who handled equipment refurbishment, commissioning, configuration, and operator training.
Flexible and High-Quality Broadcasting Equipment
The AEQ Forum IP console is known for its modular design and compact size, making it suitable for various settings including self-control studios, TV production controls, and sound production. It combines simplicity and powerful control capabilities to meet both basic and advanced operational needs. The console’s FR CORE engine supports up to six quad fader modules and includes connectivity options like AoIP multi-channel input and output cards compatible with AES67 protocol via DANTE™ technology, MADI connectivity, and up to two internal digital telephone hybrids.
