Panasonic Connect Europe has introduced new SDI I/O Boards for its advanced KAIROS live production platform, showcased at ISE 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
These boards, designated AT-KC20M1, are compatible with the latest Kairos Core mainframes – the AT-KC200, AT-KC2000, and KC2000S1. Users can equip each Kairos Core with up to four AT-KC20M1 units. This expansion significantly increases the system’s capacity, allowing for a maximum of 48 SDI Inputs/Outputs (32 in x 16 out) with 3G SDI and four boards, facilitating larger and more intricate productions.
Upcoming Firmware Update and New Features
Set for release in the first quarter of 2024, the new firmware (V1.6) for KAIROS will introduce a range of enhanced functionalities. It includes new filters for creative color correction, independent user management features, and a new Still Image Store equipped with playlist and transition capabilities for streamlined production. Additionally, a new optional software for Kairos Core Manager (AT-SFCM10) will be released, offering a back-up system for the Core, along with media restore and synchronization functions. Future support for 16:10 native resolution in ST 2110 will also be demonstrated at the event.
First Public Display of New Kairos Core Mainframes
Attendees at ISE 2024 will have the opportunity to witness the first public demonstration of two of the three newly announced Kairos Core mainframes – the AT-KC200 and AT-KC2000. Both models are housed in a new 4RU chassis design, featuring high airflow with reduced fan speeds. This design minimizes noise, making the units suitable for placement near live action without causing disturbance.
KAIROS: A Platform Supporting IP Workflow Transition
The KAIROS platform is tailored for a seamless transition to IP workflows, offering compatibility with SDI, ST 2110, and streaming. This compatibility is exemplified by its seamless integration with Panasonic’s ST 2110 compatible cameras, like the AW-UE160 PTZ and the AK-PLV100GJ PL studio camera. KAIROS is ideal for a wide range of productions, from broadcast studios to live sports and concert streaming, owing to its virtualization of traditional switcher functions and innovative CPU/GPU architecture. The platform’s Agile I/O feature transcends the limitations of traditional SDI-only switchers by supporting multiple formats.
KAIROS: Setting New Standards in Live Production
Andre Meterian, Director of Professional Video Systems at Panasonic Connect Europe, emphasizes that KAIROS is setting new benchmarks in the industry. With its continuous enhancements and added functionalities, it is becoming the standard choice for broadcast, media, and the rental and staging markets. Its IT/IP centric design offers unparalleled production creativity, adaptable to any format or content destination.
