Pavel Potužák, Aveco: Data security will be important

Aveco Pavel Potužák

Pavel Potuzhak, CEO of Aveco, participated in the traditional TKT1957 survey at the end of the year.

  1. What trends will be most important for broadcast, cinema and Pro AV industries in the next 5 years?

Some of the most important trends are fairly obvious: remote production and cloud utilization, for instance. But I think that one of the most important will be data security, especially as media assets move across the internet or stored in the cloud. It’s also an important issue on-premises. As we’ve seen in the past, hacking into a media company isn’t impossible. Now with your assets located anywhere, it’s even more important.

I’ll add one more, which is also fairly obvious: AI. The trend to watch is what will AI allow media professionals to do? We already know what AI is capable of today, in a few more years once can only image or dream (perhaps a nightmare) of AI’s impact on our industries.

  1. Which technologies and solutions do have the greatest perspective? What doesn’t have much of a chance for success?

Technologies and solutions that are open and can “play” well with others will always have a better chance of success. The work needed to produce media content from scripting to distribution is complex. Having systems that work seamlessly with other systems makes life easier and workflows smoother. What will we see go away? Dedicated systems and tools that are isolated. Those were great years ago when you needed the processing power in a box to complete an operation, but today if you’re an isolated system, your days are numbered.

  1. How did 2023 influence your company? What are the most important events in 2023 for your company?

What influences Aveco is the same year after year: we listen to our customers and to the industry at large. We work on solutions to ease the pain points that many experience or ways to increase efficiency or lower costs that our customers might not have been thinking of. An example of that is Redwood WHITE Model 2023, featuring the best price-performance ratio of any video playout engine on the market.

In 2023, we re-thought what Redwood WHITE could be and should be, based on our observations. Hence, a better Redwood WHITE that was introduced at IBC (and will be at NAB 2024). Trade shows are what we look forward to in a big way, regardless of the location, it gives us the opportunity to meet with customers and perspective customers and listen…then suggest.

  1. What plans does your company have for 2024?

We’ll keep listening and innovating our products and solutions. At NAB, we’ll be directly at the first entrance to the Central Hall at booth C2008. You can’t miss us, so stop by for a chat. While we don’t like to talk about future roadmaps for our solutions, 2024 will see what our customers have been asking for.
