PDMOVIE has introduced the 3D AIR, a lightweight and cost-effective alternative to traditional bulky 3D film equipment.
The system is designed for independent operation by a single user, utilizing integrated AI LiDAR technology.
Designed for Modern 3D Shooting
The development of the 3D AIR was influenced by the increasing trend toward lightweight 4K cameras and lenses, as well as the growing use of AR headsets and wearable devices like Apple VisionPro, Meta Quest 3, and Rokid Air 2 for 3D viewing. This product integrates LiDAR ranging modules, signal modules, electronic control modules, and power supply modules into a compact sunshade, with two sets of lenses and cameras attached via locking components.

Addressing Limitations of Mobile 3D Shooting
While 3D and spatial video can be captured using mobile devices, these often suffer from fixed optical axis distances, limited resolution, and frame rate, affecting 3D video quality. The 3D AIR addresses these limitations with high resolution, high frame rates, and adjustable optical axis distances, offering users a professional and efficient solution for 3D filming.
Lightweight and Portable
Weighing 1.16 kg (2.55 lbs), the 3D AIR is significantly lighter than traditional spatial video systems, making it easy to transport and operate by a single person. Its compact design and reduced size further enhance portability and usability in various shooting environments.

Enhanced Clarity and Precision
According to PDMOVIE, traditional lenses lose clarity beyond a 70mm focal length and become unusable past 120mm. In contrast, the 3D AIR’s lenses are crafted using nanometer-level grinding technology, ensuring sharp images beyond a 200mm focal length. The device’s optical adjustment range is 0-60mm, and the LiDAR module, using AI algorithms, can adjust the stereo effect within 30 milliseconds with an accuracy of 0.01mm.
Additional Features
The 3D AIR includes an external LiDAR ranging controller, which allows precise focusing of two sets of images during synchronous shooting. Users can choose from three focusing speeds and store data for up to five lenses. Both the optical axis distance and lens focus can be controlled manually or automatically, depending on the shooting scenario.

Compatibility and Editing
The 3D AIR supports various mirrorless hybrid cameras and small digital cinema cameras. Captured footage can be edited in Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve, and then uploaded to streaming platforms for viewing with devices like Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest 3.
AI Human Eye Simulation
The 3D AIR features AI human eye simulation technology, automatically adjusting to the most comfortable visual distance based on venue, lighting, and distance. It can switch between different optical axis settings according to the shooting requirements, reducing the need for extensive setup and operation compared to older 3D systems.

Pricing and Availability
The 3D AIR is not yet available for purchase but is expected to retail between $2,000 and $3,000 USD. It is anticipated to launch in November.
Despite the potential for niche appeal, spatial video technology like the 3D AIR may face challenges in achieving widespread adoption due to the need for specialized viewing equipment.
