Join us as we explore the features and innovations of this cutting-edge device, providing expert insights and commentary on its impact in the world of mobile imaging. Stay tuned for a quick yet comprehensive look at how the Alice Camera is changing the game.

Pax: After three years of development, Photogram is pleased to announce their AI-powered Alice Camera. This camera is extremely innovative, particularly regarding the AI chip by Google. It is said to perform trillions of calculations per second and references millions of professional photographs from across the Internet. This allows it to produce professionally AI-generated images directly from the camera, and it can post straight to platforms like Instagram and Facebook. What are your thoughts on this, Philip? Do you think this could be the end of professional cameras for social media?

Philip: I don’t think it’s the end of cameras for social media. I did some research on the camera. It’s interesting; the concept is not necessarily new. RED Digital Cinema had a similar concept with their Android phone, integrating it into more photographic or cinematographic interfaces. It’s interesting what they’re coming up with. The big question I have is that a lot of the information is about video on their website. They don’t really tell you how many megapixels it has; it’s a micro four-thirds sensor. The AI chips are interesting.

I think the problem we’re going to have is as more people start using these—especially influencers, at least early on—is whether it will imitate the hundreds of thousands of images it’s trained on, or if we will get new content. In general, conceptually, I like the idea of a modular-based camera. I don’t know how much it will rely on the iPhone or Android phone, or if it operates completely independently of those phones. Time will tell. This will be sort of the first. Android and Apple phones have had AI in them, and Apple specifically with their latest chipsets have the AI engine. I’ll believe it when I see it regarding its marketing and adoption.
