Plazamedia to open new XR LED studio

A new production era is beginning in Munich as a media location: On February 10, Plazamedia GmbH will open its new Extended Reality (XR) LED Studio under the brand name “briX|woRk.studio”.

The new studio at Plazamedia’s headquarters in the AGROB Medienpark in Ismaning near Munich, with a 120 square meter L-shaped LED wall as the core, offers new and diverse application options for innovative and sustainably realized productions – for film, broadcast and production companies, but also for advertising companies with their brands as well as event and creative agencies.

For the launch, Plazamedia is holding a “Grand Opening” event on February 10, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to present the briX|woRk.studio to the public and the media.

  • After initial projects and the successful XR LED Studio production for Telekom’s MagentaTV for the World Cup: Plazamedia launches its own Virtual Production XR LED Studio
  • With a 24 meter wide and 5 meter high L-shaped LED wall, briX|woRk.studio offers completely new and sustainable production options for film, broadcast and production companies, advertising companies as well as event and creative agencies

Jens Friedrichs, CEO of Plazamedia: “Our innovative and future-oriented studio in the media location of Munich offers a unique combination of XR, AR and VR, diverse and above all sustainable production options for companies from very different industries.  Thanks to this unique selling proposition, our customers can draw from a comprehensive selection of implementation options in order to impressively stage film and TV productions, brands and products for their target groups.”

The new briX|woRk.studio seamlessly combines real set architecture with virtual worlds via the LED wall and can be expanded into a 360° room via augmented reality. The studio set features an L-shaped LED wall that is 24 meters wide and 5 meters high. The outstanding viewing angle stability enables the LED wall to be filmed even from extreme camera angles, and the very low moiré behavior is also convincing thanks to a pixel pitch of 1.9 millimeters. Another important feature for creative use is a virtual focus, which can be used to shift the focus from a real to a virtual object in the LED wall.

During development and implementation, Plazamedia is intensifying the tried-and-tested cooperation with the company Mo-Sys, which, as one of the market leaders in the industry, is constantly driving innovations with Plazamedia with its products “Startracker”, “Cinematic XR Focus” and “bMR”.

Thanks to the Realtime Render Engine integrated in the briX|woRk.studio – the Unreal Engine 5.1 is used – parameters such as time of day, atmosphere – for example sun, rain, snow or fog – can be produced, reproduced as desired and can be individually defined.

Jens Friedrichs:”With the opening of the briX|woRk.studio, we are reaching a new milestone in studio production – after the first XR projects last year, including the successful production of the soccer World Cup for Telekom and the spring campaign for AlphaTauri, the Premium Fashion brand from Red Bull. Our innovative and future-oriented studio at the media location in Munich offers a unique combination of XR, AR and VR, diverse and, above all, sustainable production options for companies from a wide range of industries.
