PRIME 4.10 introduces several enhancements that improve the quality of NDI productions, streamline multi-scene graphic playout orchestration, and extend PRIME’s JavaScripting capabilities for better data-to-graphics integrations.
Support for NDI 6 and HDR Productions
A significant update in PRIME 4.10 is the support for NDI 6, offering 10+ bit HLG-based HDR support for productions utilizing video-over-IP connectivity. This update allows content creators to produce cutting-edge HDR broadcasts with live video feeds, graphics, and clips displaying in superior quality.
Automatic Frame Rate Adjustment
Another key feature in PRIME 4.10 is the ability to automatically adjust clips with different frame rates to match the production frame rate. This functionality eliminates the need for constant review and conversion of clips, ensuring smooth playback of all assets. Additionally, users can customize desktop output windows to create simple second-monitor multiviewers and prioritize text rendering for real-time data updates, such as game clocks.
Improved Master Control Panels
Chris Amodei, PRIME Product Manager at Chyron, highlighted the connectivity, media, and configuration improvements in PRIME 4.10, stating that these enhancements will simplify and enhance workflows for all PRIME customers. He expressed eagerness to see the custom panels and workflows that customers will create with the enhanced master control panels in this version.
Enhanced Graphics Playout Features
PRIME 4.10 also brings enhancements to graphics playout, including customizable hotkey execution behaviors on preview/program, region-of-interest image, and clip export capabilities. It offers straightforward text color tag commands for quick color changes of specific text.
JavaScript Integration
Since the introduction of the JavaScript Effect and Resource Toolset in PRIME 4.8, customers have maximized the value of data APIs for enhanced graphics. PRIME and JavaScript are now empowering playout operators using PRIME control panels to easily select API data, update graphics with team logos and headshots, and dynamically reskin and update graphics. PRIME 4.10 adds more JavaScript events and objects, along with a comprehensive user guide to assist designers in using JavaScript’s capabilities.
Looking Ahead to PRIME 5.0
Nikole McStanley, Chyron’s Product Portfolio Director, commented on the transition to PRIME 5.0, noting that it will represent a significant evolution with a focus on enhancing workflow efficiencies. The upcoming version will feature a gRPC API for more sophisticated integrations, boosting productivity and enriching visual storytelling in live production workflows. More details will be revealed at IBC2024.
