Quasar Science has expanded its lighting solution range with the launch of the Ossium Ladder Kit, designed specifically for their Rainbow LED pixel tubes.
This innovative rigging system offers enhanced flexibility and convenience for setting up to 16 lighting fixtures.
Introduction of the Ossium Ladder Kit
The Ossium Ladder Kit introduces a novel approach to lighting setup, catering to the Rainbow 2 RGBX LED pixel tubes previously released by Quasar Science in March 2022. These tubes are available in lengths of 2 feet (60cm), 4 feet (120cm), and 8 feet (240cm), featuring a single row of pixels. The Double Rainbow version, offering two rows of pixels, is available in 2 and 4 feet lengths.
The kit’s development was motivated by the need for a versatile rigging solution that accommodates the diverse sizes of the Rainbow 2 and Double Rainbow LED tubes. Revealed at the BSC Show in London, the Ossium Ladder Kit is aimed at facilitating virtual production setups.
Features of the Ossium Ladder Kit
The rigging kit is comprised of 32 adjustable brackets, four 8-foot (2.43m) cables, an adjustable top bar, and a set of hex wrenches for assembly. It’s designed to support up to 16 Rainbow 2 RGBX LED tubes but is also compatible with other T12-standard LED tubes from Quasar Science, like the Crossfades tubes, with the addition of optional Ossium T12 tube clips.
Adjustable in width, the Ossium Ladder Kit can accommodate the various lengths of Rainbow 2 or Double Rainbow fixtures, making it suitable for a wide range of studio sizes. The kit’s total height reaches 2.66 meters (105 inches), and it weighs 8 kilograms (17.6 pounds) without any fixtures attached.
For ease of use, the ladder brackets can be adjusted by simply unscrewing a knob at the bottom, allowing for quick setup and customization. Each LED tube is secured to the bracket using two 1/4″-20 screws, ensuring a stable and reliable installation.
