Qvest Stream Integrates its Subsidiary HMS to Expand its Cloud-Based Software Solutions

Qvest, a company specializing in cloud-based software technologies, has integrated its subsidiary HMS into its company group and renamed it Qvest Stream GmbH. Qvest Stream’s portfolio includes software products for playout and newsroom solutions, as well as other media applications, such as makalu, a software-defined cloud playout automation. Makalu enables media companies to manage linear live, pop-up, and FAST channels quickly and efficiently. At the NAB Show Las Vegas 2023, Qvest Stream will launch an enhanced version of makalu with a redesigned and intuitive user interface, as well as a powerful studio server called ClipBox that is optimized for live and pre-production in the professional broadcast environment.

Frank Mistol, Managing Director Qvest Stream: “We are pleased to continue the already five-year success story with Qvest and to bundle the activities for cloud-based distribution products under a new, strong brand. This step is therefore a strong signal for our team, our customers and our product portfolio. We will now reach new customers and markets with makalu as well as our other software solutions, thus expanding the product range of the Qvest Group internationally.”

Founded in 1996 in Halle an der Saale by Frank Mistol as HMS GmbH, the software specialists have been successfully implementing projects with integrated media automation systems for customers in Europe for more than 25 years. Since 2018, the company has been part of the globally operating Qvest Group and is thus closely interlinked with the globally networked expert teams of various departments – from technical consulting to UX design to system integration. In addition to makalu and Clipbox, the Qvest Stream product portfolio also includes Fusion – a tech layer for efficient control of audio and video equipment in studio environments. The fourth Qvest Stream product is the online-based inventory and playout system Pollux, which was realized together with Trade4Sports and enables the automated and digitalized marketing of advertising space for the first time worldwide.
