On the island of Nauru, Radio Nauru was founded in 1968 as the only public non-commercial radio station.
It operates as the Nauru Broadcasting Service, launching its content over the Internet and on 105.1 MHz FM from its premises in Yaren, the main city of the island.
Traditionally, Radio Nauru has always worked with analogue equipment. But recently, the station’s technical management decided to upgrade one of their studios with digital technology and chose the AEQ CAPITOL IP console as the heart of the new studio.
In selecting such an important piece of equipment, given the characteristics of the installation and the operators, the main challenge was to select a mixer that would provide the highest sound quality with the best digital performance. Another main requirement was to select a very user friendly and reliable mixer due to the geographical isolation of the country.
AEQ CAPITOL IP is an 8-channel fixed configuration digital audio mixer. CAPITOL IP provides IP connectivity in a single module with 16 input and 16 output channels. The main advantage of AEQ CAPITOL IP is the wide available input capacity: 4 mic/line, 12 analog, 4 AES/EBU (AES3) digital stereo, 2 USB digital stereo, 2 additional phone lines and additional digital multichannel audio channels; 16 AoIP channels via two Ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels via fiber.
AEQ technology is currently deployed in 105 countries around the world, in cities like London, New York or Tokyo, or in very remote places like the Amazon, the Sahel or the Pacific Ocean. Currently, there are more than 5500 radio stations and 1700 TV stations where AEQ equipment is part of the daily operation.
