RED has officially released the 1.7.2beta firmware update for its V-RAPTOR and V-RAPTOR [X] camera models. This latest update is now accessible for users at no extra cost.
It brings compatibility with RED’s updated COMPACT EVF, resolves several bugs, and introduces a variety of new features to improve user experience.
Expansion of the V-RAPTOR Lineup
Since its initial introduction in September 2021, the V-RAPTOR series has seen significant growth in both hardware and software capabilities. Presently, the series encompasses 6 models, including the original 8K Vista Vision and S35 Raptors, their studio-focused “XL” versions with a unified body design, and the latest [X] and XL [X] models that come equipped with an 8K Vista Vision sensor featuring global shutter technology.

The series has benefited from continuous software updates, adding numerous functionalities like time-lapse and ProRes recording capabilities, ELQ setting for REDCODE RAW, Camera-to-Cloud feature, Gio Scope false color, face-detection autofocus, and others. It also introduces a “Remount Media” command to address accidental ejection of media, support for ProGrade Gold 1TB and 2TB CFexpress Type B cards, along with other enhancements.
Moreover, the update resolves issues with SmallHD ND assignable buttons, intermittent SDI timecode with external TC, and various other performance-related matters.
