Riedel Communications has announced that the Baluarte Conference Center and Auditorium of Navarra in Spain has successfully implemented Riedel’s Artist intercom ecosystem, Bolero wireless intercom, and IP-based SmartPanels.
This new system enhances communication throughout the 64,000-square-meter facility, addressing the challenges posed by the building’s size and construction.
Enhanced Communication Across the Facility
The new intercom solutions have significantly improved coordination among the technical, audiovisual, and staging teams at Baluarte. Eduardo Nanclares, Technical and Operations Director at Baluarte, stated that the Bolero wireless intercom system and SmartPanels have increased the efficiency of the teams, thereby enhancing the quality of events hosted at the venue.

Facility Details and Communication Challenges
Designed by architect Patxi Mangado, the Baluarte facility in Pamplona includes a main auditorium for 1,568 spectators, a chamber hall for 432 people, and 4,800 square meters of exhibition and event halls. The expansive space and solid gray-quartzite construction posed significant communication challenges, which the new Riedel system aims to address.

System Components and Integration
The Artist ecosystem at Baluarte includes the Bolero wireless intercom with six antennas and 20 beltpacks, along with seven SmartPanels connected over IP with AES67. This setup ensures seamless communication among technicians, security, and service personnel. The SmartPanels feature full-color multi-touchscreen displays, hybrid lever keys, and app-driven functionalities, providing workflow flexibility and connectivity. Riedel’s technical service provided initial training and continues to offer support.
