Riedel Communications has unveiled a partnership with TSL that has culminated in the successful implementation of an innovative video distribution and control system for a notable financial services company.
With the technical support of systems integrator Diversified, the combination of Riedel’s MediorNet IP video distribution gear and TSL’s X-Connect SMPTE ST 2110 routing control solution, along with virtual panel interfaces, has led to the creation of a high-grade distributed IP routing and control system that avoids the necessity of large-scale matrices.
Deployment at Financial Firm’s Locations
The project saw the deployment of over 50 Riedel MediorNet FusioN edge devices at two of the financial firm’s key sites, managed by TSL’s X-Connect, offering a scalable small-scale solution. This setup is tailored for scenarios that demand premium video quality and straightforward control, such as wealth management sessions, client meetings, and live-streamed webinars. The FusioN devices serve multiple purposes, including functioning as 3G/UHD SDI/IP gateways and providing PTZ camera control Ethernet tunnels, which accommodate the requirements of remote camera operations with ease.
Enhanced Flexibility and Control
These systems also support FusioN black burst (BB) and frame sync (FS) options, allowing for the genlocking of remote sources or the synchronization of asynchronous sources to PTP during encapsulation. The infrastructure’s core is fortified by two pairs of MediorNet VirtU-48s, which form the foundational red and blue networks, guaranteeing signal redundancy via SMPTE ST 2022-7 seamless protection switching for a robust network. TSL’s X-Connect ST 2110 routing solution facilitates seamless connectivity and control over IP edge and traditional broadcast devices, easing the transition from SDI to IP-based workflows.
Industry Leaders’ Insights
Ian Godfrey, President at TSL Products Inc. and Head of Control, emphasized the importance of providing open and economical IP solutions to content producers and broadcasters, irrespective of their size, to leverage IP and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) advantages without incurring the costs associated with a complete infrastructure overhaul.
Client Satisfaction and Project Outcome
The financial services company, now among Riedel’s clients, efficiently manages numerous video signals throughout its premises with this integrated solution. Initially conceived without a control system, the project evolved to include a more dynamic control framework, enhancing the functionality of multipurpose rooms, live event venues, and virtual audience interactions on platforms like Zoom.
Dave Caulwell, Regional Sales Director, East, at Riedel, highlighted the successful collaboration with TSL, noting the client’s appreciation for the FusioN edge devices’ compact size and versatile I/O options. This partnership has resulted in a bespoke, high-quality video solution that meets the unique needs of corporate environments.
