CityNews is introducing a nationwide talk radio program.

Rogers Sports & Media is launching a national talk show on its CityNews radio stations, led by veteran broadcaster Rob Snow from Ottawa

The show, titled “Now You Know with Rob Snow,” will be broadcast on several CityNews stations, including CityNews 570 (CKGL-AM) in Kitchener, CityNews 95.7 (CJNI-FM) in Halifax, CityNews 660 (CFFR-AM) in Calgary, and CityNews 1130 (CKWX-AM) in Vancouver. It will also be available online at CityNews.ca and as a daily podcast through Frequency Podcast Network.

The program will air live from 1 to 4 p.m. ET and will mark the first time that talk radio is featured on the Vancouver and Calgary stations, which previously followed a continuous “news wheel” format. The only CityNews radio station not picking up the show is Toronto’s CityNews 680 (CFTR-AM).

“Now You Know” will be produced by David Smith, Snow’s longtime producer, and will cover top headlines of the day, feature interviews with newsmakers, breaking news, live news conferences, and engagement with listeners.

Rob Snow, who describes himself as a “political junkie,” emphasized that politics will play a significant role in the show. He mentioned a focus on federal politics, as well as topics like the economy, affordability, interest rates, mortgage rates, employment, energy policy, and the future of the oil and gas sector. The program will also address contentious issues such as the carbon tax and healthcare.

Rob Snow was previously heard on CityNews 101.1 and 1310 in Ottawa, where Rogers Sports & Media decided to discontinue the news talk format due to declining audience and revenue, compounded by regulatory challenges. Snow joined CityNews in early 2020 after the departure of Mark Sutcliffe, who is now the Mayor of Ottawa and a former personality on 580 CFRA.
