Roland-Garros 2024: Advanced Broadcasts with UHD HDR and 5.1 Audio

UHD HDR, Remote Production, and Live Drone Coverage Elevate Tennis Broadcasts

Since 2019, HBS has collaborated with the Fédération Française de Tennis (FFT) to provide world feeds for Roland-Garros, continuously raising the bar for Grand Slam coverage. The inaugural host broadcaster year in 2021 saw UHD HDR broadcast format introduced for the four main courts, along with multichannel 5.1 audio capturing the distinct sound of players sliding on clay. Philippe Oziol, Project Director at HBS, stated, “Each year our team has worked closely with the FFT to bring new angles and production methods, ensuring that France’s Grand Slam event is continuously at the forefront of innovation in tennis coverage.”

Innovations continued in 2022 with remote production operations reducing the event’s broadcast footprint. In 2023, live drone coverage was introduced, offering stunning views of the stadium and Paris skyline, and gyro-stabilized netcams enhanced the main three courts.
