Ronen Artman, LiveU: We are already integrating AI in various parts of our workflow

TFT1957 Interviews Ronen Artman, Vice President, Marketing at LiveU, in the TFT1957 survey «The year 2030: AI or engineer?»

Ronen Artman, VP of Marketing at LiveU, in TFT1957’s “The year 2030: AI or engineer?”.

  1. How will the broadcasting industry and broadcast technologies change in the next 5 years?
  2. If we model the world of broadcasting and broadcast tech in 2030, what role will AI play?
  3. How will AI change your business segment?
  4. Which professions will AI displace in the broadcasting technology industry by 2030?

  1. I think we are starting to see a lot of consolidation and company mergers. They are trying to find the right balance in catering to the broadcast network. With the advancement of technologies—especially AI—I believe the future of the broadcast industry is bright, with a lot of potential to take it to the next level.
  1. By 2030, AI is likely to play a significant role in all workflows, from contribution and production to distribution. For example, at LiveU, we have just announced LiveU IQ, our new technology that uses AI and historical data. It helps users decide the best set of SIM cards available in a specific location and even suggests the best spots for optimal coverage, based on historical data analyzed by AI.
  1. AI will significantly change our segment. We are already integrating AI in various parts of our workflow. For instance, our units are transitioning from using physical SIM cards to eSIMs. In live studio production, AI will enable accurate camera tracking, while in distribution, AI will allow for more effective content delivery.
  1. It’s hard to say exactly which professions AI will replace, as it’s still too early to predict. While some roles may shift or evolve, I don’t think AI can entirely replace the human decision-making process, especially in news, where common sense and context are crucial. AI might assist in some areas, but it lacks the ability to understand nuance the way humans do. So, while there may be changes, it’s not clear which professions will need to adapt significantly at this point.

All the opinions of industry leaders can be seen in the survey “Year 2030: AI or Engineer?”.
