Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) faced ongoing pressure from IT security requirements and the need for cost efficiency.
Nathalie Montjouridès, post-production system owner at RTS and head of the project, noted that working with managed hardware and software that can be centrally updated while finding cost savings through IT standardization was a primary challenge.

Software and Hardware Evaluation
Cyril Moulin, head of ENG and postproduction at RTS, stated that the high cost of alternative hardware and support, combined with the desire for a flexible, sustainable solution with free software support and wider industry adoption, led RTS to evaluate DaVinci Resolve Studio. The network required a solution proven in professional environments, reliable, and widely used in the industry.
Hardware requirements included GPU performance, silence for grading room comfort, compatibility with existing network storage infrastructure, dependable SDI broadcast monitoring, long-term reliability, and full workflow support with DaVinci Resolve Studio.
DaVinci Resolve Studio Selection
DaVinci Resolve Studio provided grading, finishing, online, and conform capabilities, allowing RTS to replace multiple tools with a single solution. Its modern interface and widespread industry adoption facilitated a smooth transition.
Hardware Deployment
RTS deployed Mac Studio M3 Ultra systems with 28 CPU cores, 60 GPU cores, and 256 GB RAM, integrated into Sonnet xMac Studio Echo III chassis. Each system included DeckLink 8K Pro G2 for SDI video I/O, a 10/25 GbE network adapter for storage connectivity, and two 4TB NVMe SSDs for Resolve cache and fallback mode. The configuration delivered silent, compact, and fully optimized performance for DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Migration and Integration
RTS conducted one week of user training, pre-migration tests, and timed the transition to align with the end of support contracts for previous systems. Resolve Studio is now integrated with RTS’s network storage infrastructure, with future plans to extend links to MAM and archive systems.
Cost Savings
The switch to MacOS and DaVinci Resolve Studio saved approximately 150,000 Swiss francs, eliminated a dedicated maintenance contract, and streamlined operations on standardized, IT-managed hardware.
Industry Value
Cyril Moulin emphasized that DaVinci Resolve Studio offers technical reliability, cost efficiency, and widespread adoption, making the migration manageable with immediate benefits in stability, integration, and budget control.
