Interview with Sebastian Mucha, Executive Vice President, R&D and European Operations, MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems.
– Can you tell us more about your expertise and product line?
We are in the fiber optics transmission business, developing equipment for the broadcast industry to facilitate the movement of camera-generated signals over long distances using fiber optics. Our product line includes camera bag attachable transceivers, power supplies, infrastructure products, multiplexers, and signal converters for RSDI signals.
With evolving technology and increasing signal demands, we’ve seen more combinations of signals being merged, as well as the transition from SDI functionality to the IP world through the SMPTE 2110 specification. Our offerings range from simple handheld devices to complex systems configured to meet customer needs, such as SDI over fiber, HDMI, embedding and de-embedding, and point-to-point transmission solutions. We also offer audio monitoring for tracks when required.
We’ve developed a new product using the OpenGear frame standard for fiber cards, which allows for the multiplexing of signals, including SDI, control data, Ethernet, audio, and intercoms. Our latest gateway for SMPTE 2110 networks enables the transmission of 3G and UHD signals, encapsulating them for the network and then decapsulating them to process SDI signals further. We also use compression technologies like JPEG XS and low-latency codecs in the 2110 environment.
Also, we offer power supply solutions that enable the transmission of studio camera signals over long distances by eliminating the need for power at the CCU. We transmit power over fiber optics, establish connections, and power up the camera chains. We collaborate with major manufacturers such as Sony, Grass Valley, and Panasonic.
– Thank you for the interview!
