Sennheiser has unveiled the MKH 8030 Figure-8 Condenser Microphone, a new addition ideal for studio and orchestra recordings, field operations, and broadcasting.
The MKH 8030 features a bi-directional figure-8 polar pattern that equally captures sound from both the front and the rear while rejecting side noises. It is designed to work seamlessly with cardioid or super-cardioid microphones to create a mid-side stereo setup. The microphone includes a low-tension diaphragm and an acoustically open push-pull transducer design, which promotes undistorted sound flow. It offers an extended frequency response from 30 Hz to 50 kHz, ensuring detailed capture of both bass and treble. Built in Germany, the microphone boasts a durable metal housing and a moisture-resistant design, making it reliable in various environmental conditions. Additionally, it features a low self-noise level and minimal non-linear distortion, ensuring clear audio capture.
Compatibility and Accessories
The MKH 8030 is compatible with the MZX 8000 XLR module and the MZD 8000 digital module, enhancing its versatility. It supports various recording setups such as Mid/Side and Blumlein stereo arrays. The microphone is also supplied with an MZW 8030 foam windshield, an MZQ 8000 mic clip, and Rycote Back-to-Back clips for additional microphone setup options.
Construction Details
The microphone’s robust construction includes a next-generation transducer and innovative diaphragm design, which enhances its sensitivity and sound fidelity. The exterior features a non-reflective Nextel coating to prevent glare from stage lighting.
Pricing and Availability
The Sennheiser MKH 8030 is now available for pre-order at a price of $1,499 USD.
