ShotDeck Launches iOS App, Expanding Access for Filmmakers

ShotDeck, the renowned online database renowned for its vast collection of movie stills, has expanded its accessibility by launching an iOS application.

This development mirrors the website’s capabilities, allowing users to create and share image collections with their teams directly from their mobile devices. An Android version is currently in the works, aiming to broaden the platform’s reach.

Innovative Tool for Creative Professionals

Established by Lawrence Sher, an acclaimed cinematographer recognized for his work on major films such as “Joker” and “The Hangover” series, ShotDeck was conceived to address the specific needs of filmmakers and creative professionals. The platform serves as an essential resource during the preproduction phase, offering high-definition images from movies for reference or visual style matching. As of its latest update, users can now access over one million images from an array of films, TV shows, and music videos on their smartphones and tablets.

Enhanced Features for On-the-Go Use

The iOS app introduces the ‘Discover’ page, a new feature that suggests movies based on the team at ShotDeck’s curated selections. It retains many of the desktop version’s functionalities, such as the color picker tool, which allows users to find images matching specific RGB values, and the ‘Similar Shots’ feature that employs AI to suggest images akin to the user’s selected reference. Each still in the database is meticulously tagged with details including aspect ratio, lighting specifics, camera and lens information, and shooting location, catering to those studying cinematography intricacies.

Since its official inception in 2021, following its initial development phase in 2014, ShotDeck has quickly become a pivotal community for directors, cinematographers, designers, film students, and visual artists seeking project references.
