Shotoku Broadcast Systems Unveils Enhanced TR-XT Control System at NAB 2024

At the upcoming NAB 2024 event, Shotoku Broadcast Systems’ North American division, known as Shotoku USA, will present the updated version of its TR-XT control system.

This latest iteration comes packed with new features since its debut at last year’s NAB. The TR-XT system will be part of a broader showcase including Shotoku’s AutoFrame face tracking technology, providing a preview of future advancements in studio robotics control. The exhibition, located at Booth C3816, will also feature the TI-11X elevator pedestal, the fully robotic SmartPed pedestal, and Shotoku’s complete range of pan and tilt heads and control panels suitable for various environments such as broadcast, legislative, and professional AV settings.

Enhancements in Studio Robotics

Matt Servis, a Robotic Support Specialist at Shotoku USA, highlighted the positive feedback the upgraded TR-XT system received previously and expressed enthusiasm for its return with additional improvements. The TR-XT system, which has been deployed in multiple locations, continues to evolve to address the dynamic needs of 24/7 live studio production. The latest version builds on the reliability of its predecessors while incorporating a new Windows 11 operating system, enhanced distributed architecture, virtualized database support, and an updated user interface for easier navigation. The StudioView feature now offers advanced multi-camera tools for efficient shot planning, and the system’s database handling and data shadowing capabilities have been upgraded for better shared operation across multiple control points.

Advances in AutoFrame Face Tracking

The AutoFrame technology, known for its real-time face tracking and shot recall capabilities, has also seen significant improvements. Aimed at reducing the need for manual operation, the updated AutoFrame can now track multiple channels simultaneously and has improved framing and live zoom adjustments. This advancement underscores Shotoku’s commitment to sophisticated yet reliable and user-friendly tracking technology.

Showcasing Robotic Pedestals and Control Systems

The SmartPed, Shotoku’s flagship robotic pedestal, will be prominently featured at the booth. Designed for a wide range of robotic camera applications, the SmartPed can accommodate various payloads and accessories. Additionally, Shotoku will introduce the TI-11X elevator pedestal, designed for studios that do not require manual override, featuring easy cable management. The company will also display the Orchestra CMS control system, tailored for televised legislative proceedings, alongside its range of pan and tilt heads including the TG-27, TG-47, and TG-18 models.
