SipRadius Showcases AV1 and JPEG-XS Technologies at CABSAT

SipRadius, a leader in live media transport and transcoding technology, will display its cutting-edge AV1 and JPEG-XS technologies over transport streams at the CABSAT event.

The exhibition will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from May 21 to May 23. SipRadius will be present at stand S1-G26a with Hornets Tech, their UK distributor, and at stand S1-A15 with FOR-A under the SOAR-A platform.

Enhancing Real-Time Content Delivery

SipRadius has developed a software-defined ecosystem that relies on open standards to enhance interoperability in content delivery. One of the key features being introduced is a real-time AV1 codec optimized to run on GPUs. Previously considered too resource-intensive for real-time encoding, this new AV1 implementation allows for high-quality live content transmission, particularly in remote production settings.

Streamlining MPEG-TS Integration

SipRadius has also made progress in incorporating live AV1 content into MPEG-TS transport streams, which integrates smoothly into existing infrastructures and maintains essential data such as real-time clocks. This technology ensures low-latency and efficient bandwidth utilization, critical for multi-stream remote productions.

Pioneering JPEG-XS Technology

Additionally, SipRadius has achieved the first practical application of JPEG-XS within MPEG-TS, a development recognized by the VSF. JPEG-XS offers visually lossless compression with low latency and minimal processing requirements, serving as an effective alternative to SMPTE ST2110 for internal and remote live production connections.

Comments from the Chief Scientist

Dr. Sergio Ammirata, founder and Chief Scientist at SipRadius, commented on the increasing pressures facing broadcasters and production companies in transitioning to live remote production. He highlighted the challenges posed by multiple standards, latency concerns, and interoperability issues. Dr. Ammirata, a prominent contributor to the development of RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport), emphasized SipRadius’s commitment to leveraging open standards to address these industry challenges practically and effectively.

Hardware and Platform Support

SipRadius software is designed to operate on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and specialized devices, including the SOAR-A platform by FOR-A.
