Just after the launch of the Leica SL3, a new mirrorless camera admired for its 60MP Full-Frame BSI CMOS sensor, 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and the capacity to shoot 8K videos, SmallRig has introduced a dedicated cage kit.
This product is designed to enhance the functionality of the SL3, making it more versatile for videography and photography by allowing the attachment of various accessories.
Key Features of the SmallRig Cage
Constructed from a blend of aluminum and titanium, the cage is both lightweight and durable, tipping the scales at just 228 grams (8 ounces). It affixes firmly to the Leica SL3 through three points of contact, including a 1/4″-20 screw and two attachments that link to the camera’s strap eyelets, ensuring a secure fit.
The cage boasts numerous 1/4″-20 threaded holes on its sides and bottom, along with a single cold shoe mount and a 3/8″-16 mounting point equipped with ARRI locating holes at the top. Additionally, there is a grip on the cage’s right front side, featuring silicone padding for comfortable handling.
A significant feature is the integrated ARCA Swiss plate at the bottom, making the cage compatible with DJI Ronin RS 2/RS 3/RS 3 Mini and Pro gimbals, facilitating seamless transitions between handheld and stabilized shots.
The cage also includes a detachable quick-release clamp on its left side, designed to secure HDMI and USB-C cables, preventing disconnections and damage during use.
