SmallRig has introduced three new cages for the Nikon Z 6III: a regular cage, a higher-end “Night Eagle” version, and a cage for use with the optional MB-N14 grip.
All cages are constructed from aluminum, feature three locking points for secure camera attachment, a built-in Arca-Swiss quick-release plate at the bottom, and numerous 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 mounting points.
Nikon Z 6III Recording Capabilities
The Nikon Z 6III offers impressive recording capabilities including 6K60P N-RAW internal recording without cropping the full-frame sensor, internal ProRes RAW HQ and ProRes 422 HQ recording up to 6K30P, and 4K120P recording capabilities. This makes it a highly sought-after mirrorless camera among filmmakers. SmallRig is among the first third-party accessory manufacturers to release dedicated cages and accessories for this camera.
Regular SmallRig Cage for Nikon Z 6III
The regular cage for the Nikon Z 6III is a wrap-around model weighing 170g (6oz). It attaches to the camera via three mounting points: one 1/4″-20 at the bottom and two screws on the neck strap eyelets. The top of the cage includes one 3/8″-16 threaded hole with ARRI locating pins, six 1/4″-20 mounting points, and a built-in cold shoe.
