Sony Electronics expands its G Series lineup with the introduction of two new memory cards, the 480GB and 240GB CFexpress Type B TOUGH Memory Cards.
These cards are engineered to cater to the demands of professional photographers, videographers, and enthusiasts who require rapid data processing and utmost reliability in their work.
Enhanced Storage and Speed
The newly announced memory cards come in two storage capacities: 240GB and 480GB. Both variants utilize a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface, ensuring fast data transfer rates. The 480GB model boasts maximum read speeds of up to 1850 MB/s and write speeds of 1750 MB/s. Similarly, the 240GB version offers the same peak read speed but a slightly lower write speed of 1600 MB/s.
Built for Extreme Conditions
Sony’s CEB-G series memory cards are built to withstand harsh conditions without compromising data integrity. They are resistant to shock, UV light, X-rays, and extreme temperatures. Additionally, these cards have been rigorously tested for rigidity, demonstrating a resistance of up to 70 N. They are noted for their durability, featuring five times the drop strength and three times the bendability compared to previous models.

Data Protection FeaturesTo safeguard data, Sony includes specialized software with both cards. The Media Scan Utility, compatible with the MRW-G1 card reader, automatically examines the CFexpress Type B memory card’s condition and storage capacity. Furthermore, Sony’s Memory Card File Rescue software helps users recover accidentally deleted files, supporting a wide range of file formats.
Seamless Workflow Integration
These memory cards are designed to facilitate a smooth workflow, especially when dealing with large, high-resolution images and high-bitrate video content. Their compatibility with the CFexpress Type B card reader MRW-G1 allows for quick data transfers to PCs, enabling users to complete projects efficiently.
Pricing and Availability
The 480GB and 240GB CFexpress Type B TOUGH Memory Cards are set to hit the market in May 2024. The estimated retail prices are $319.99 USD ($439.99 CAN) for the 480GB model and $199.99 USD ($274.99 CAN) for the 240GB version.
