Sony to Release New Firmware for FX6, FX3, and FX30 Cameras

The upcoming ILME-FX6 version 5.0 firmware, expected in May 2024 or later, brings several improvements.

Notable additions include:

  • A new 1.5x option in the De-squeeze function.
  • Enhanced Monitor & Control features, including Waveform and False Color, similar to those already supported in the FX3 and FX30.
  • Introduction of a new preset, 709tone, to facilitate color matching across multiple cameras.
  • Expansion of lens compatibility, adding breathing compensation for lenses like the SEL100400GM and SEL200600G.

FX3 and FX30 Firmware Updates: Scheduled for Late 2024
Scheduled for release in September 2024 or later, the firmware updates for the FX3 and FX30 cameras include:

  • Introduction of a Shutter Angle option.
  • Support for 709tone.
  • Enhanced live streaming capabilities with SRT/RTMP/RTMPS support.

While these firmware updates provide valuable additions to the Sony camera lineup, the delay in releasing basic features like the Shutter Angle option and 709tone support raises questions among users.
