Atlona has announced that Steve Bogart, their EDU Business Development Manager, has been appointed to the IDEA Committee, an initiative of the Educational Technology Collaborative (ETC).
The IDEA Committee focuses on integrating inclusivity, diversity, equity, and access into ETC’s programs, communications, and activities.
Committee Leadership
Steve Bogart will co-chair the IDEA Committee alongside Sarah Hava Valley, the Assistant Director of Online Learning at Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business. Their two-year term begins immediately. They were elected by the ETC Board to co-chair the committee after the previous committee’s term concluded.
Committee Mission and Role
The IDEA Committee’s mission extends beyond its core focus on inclusivity and access. It also serves as an advisory body to the ETC Board, committees, and task forces. The committee’s advisory role is informed by data collection and annual member surveys, which help identify challenges and best practices.
Steve Bogart’s Experience and Goals
Steve Bogart joined Atlona in February 2023, bringing extensive experience in AV for education. His expertise in applying technology effectively in learning environments complements Sarah Valley’s experience in instructional and learning design. Bogart’s goals for the committee include making AV and IT products more accessible to a wider range of users. He aims to help manufacturers create products with user interfaces that accommodate individuals with visual impairments and other special needs, while also reducing development costs through the committee’s educational initiatives.
Involvement in ETC Events
Steve Bogart will actively participate in ETC events, including the 2024 Annual Conference in Ames, Iowa, scheduled for October 1-4. The conference attracts AV and IT professionals, instructional designers, and technology vendors supporting higher education institutions.
