StreamGuys has revealed that their new cloud service, Reflector EVO, will be available at the start of NAB Show 2024.
This service, developed together with Barix, an expert in Audio over IP technology, is designed for large-scale audio contribution and distribution for radio broadcasters, program syndicators, and audio content creators.
Collaboration and Service Details
StreamGuys is responsible for sales, hosting services, and around-the-clock technical support. Reflector EVO will be showcased at the NAB Show 2024 in Las Vegas
Evolution of the Reflector Service
Originally launched 14 years ago, the first generation of the Reflector service simplified the transmission of high-quality audio over the public internet by mitigating network configuration issues. The new version, Reflector EVO, now offers enhanced capability by supporting the simultaneous transmission of multiple audio streams, including uncompressed PCM signals, to various locations. This cloud-based approach provides a more cost-effective solution than satellite transmissions for wide-area audio distribution.
Enhancements in Redundancy and Hardware
To ensure reliability, Reflector EVO features primary and backup streams that work concurrently to maintain signal integrity. Barix has also improved its hardware, enabling quicker switching between encoders and supporting lossless audio compression. Their new LX400 broadcast codec, which will also debut at the NAB Show, features high-quality OPUS audio and adjustable bitrate settings.
Additional Features and Service Plans
The LX400 includes standard features like adjustable input gain and support for relay and contact closures, which aid in managing local ad breaks over the EVO network. StreamGuys has also enhanced its alerting applications to better target essential notifications to relevant stations only. Various service plan options will be available, accommodating different needs in terms of technical specifications, hardware ownership, and level of support.
