Streaming platform DAZN to acquire Eleven Sports

The international broadcast sector is abuzz with the recent announcement by streaming and VOD platform DAZN.

According to Financial Times sources, DAZN, controlled by tycoon Len Blavatnik, is in full negotiations for the purchase of its rival Eleven Sports. This company, which specializes in the streaming business, was founded by Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani. This businessman owns the Leeds United team, a documentary production company called Neo Studios and the digital marketing company Team Whistle.

According to Financial Times sources, the negotiation is at an advanced stage, but it is not assumed that it will be fulfilled. DAZN’s goal is to expand its content to access other markets. The acquisition of Eleven would give it access to new territories, as well as the rights to Formula 1 in Poland, the UEFA Champions League and the next three seasons of the English Premier League in Portugal.

Eleven Sports had revenues of more than $300 million last June 2021, according to this internationally renowned economic authority.
