Studio Technologies, a renowned manufacturer of top-tier audio, video, and fiber-optic solutions, unveiled the Model 5312 Intercom Station. This state-of-the-art system boasts 12 independent talk and listen channels and is fully compatible with the Dante audio-over-Ethernet network technology.

Designed as an audio control hub, the rack-mounted Model 5312 is ideal for a myriad of applications, from on-air TV sports and news broadcasts to live events, theater, and corporate AV setups. Its versatility ensures it can be used both locally and in geographically dispersed REMI or “At-Home” settings. Beyond intercom functionalities, the unit can also generate multiple independent IFB (talent cue) channels. Its capability to craft monitor mixes from its 12 input audio channels makes it a prime choice for listen-only situations.

Gordon Kapes, President of Studio Technologies, expressed his anticipation for the Model 5312’s debut, highlighting its ability to facilitate a broad spectrum of party-line (PL) intercom applications over a standard Ethernet network. It seamlessly integrates with various Studio Technologies’ PL devices and is directly compatible with the Model 5421 and Model 5422A Dante Intercom Audio Engine products. Furthermore, the Model 5312 can operate ‘point-to-point’ or interface with Dante-compatible matrix intercom systems.

The unit’s front panel features a 5-pin female XLR connector, accommodating traditional “pro” headsets with dynamic or electret microphones. Additionally, the Studio Technologies’ GME-3-12 gooseneck microphone can be directly connected via the ¼-inch jack assembly. A built-in low-noise microphone preamplifier and a voltage-controlled-amplifier (VCA) dynamics controller ensure optimal audio quality while preventing signal overload.

The Model 5312 offers 12 Dante transmitter and receiver channels each for “talk” and “listen” functionalities, respectively. It also provides a “hot mic” transmitter channel and four auxiliary receiver channels. These features were specially integrated to allow two Model 5312 units to collaborate, supporting over 12 talk channels. The unit’s front panel is equipped with 13 rotary controls, 12 of which adjust the Dante receiver signal sources to create a monitor mix. The 13th encoder controls the overall audio level and mute status for the headset and front-panel speaker outputs.

The unit also boasts two “GigE” interfaces for single and redundant Dante applications, two remote-control inputs, and a “universal” mains input for versatile power sourcing.

Configuration of the Model 5312 is streamlined with the STcontroller software application, available for free from Studio Technologies. Compatible with both WinOS and macOS, STcontroller allows for quick and efficient customization to meet specific application requirements.
