Founded in 1979 in Illinois, Studio Technologies, Inc. has a long history in providing high-performance audio, video, and fiber-optic solutions to the professional broadcast and audio industries.

With the shift toward IP-based workflows, the company faced challenges with its initial IP technology provider for ST 2110 integration. Although improvements were expected, the technology did not advance to meet Studio Technologies’ requirements.

Switch to Merging Technologies for Improved ST 2110 Integration

To address these issues, Studio Technologies selected Merging Technologies as their new ST 2110 technology partner. According to Gordon Kapes, President of Studio Technologies, Merging’s experience with ST 2110 integration provided the required support and technical capabilities. The transition to Merging’s solution, including the ZMAN module, was smooth and allowed Studio Technologies to implement ST 2110 efficiently across its product line.

Integration of the ZMAN Module in Studio Technologies Products

The ZMAN module, developed by Merging Technologies, now forms the core of ST 2110 functionality in several Studio Technologies products. The module was incorporated into existing board designs, originally built for Dante compatibility, without extensive modifications. Currently, the ZMAN module powers products such as the Model 5682 ST 2110 to Dante Bridge, Model 5512A Audio Interface, and Model 5518A Mic/Line Interface. Additional products utilizing the ZMAN module are also under development.

Impact on Performance and Collaboration with Merging

Studio Technologies reports a notable improvement in the performance and compatibility of its ST 2110 support due to the switch to Merging Technologies. The partnership has included close collaboration with Merging’s engineering team, who have provided firmware updates and customized solutions as needed. This technical support has been instrumental in addressing compatibility issues and refining ST 2110 applications in Studio Technologies’ products.

Outlook on the Ongoing Partnership

Studio Technologies remains committed to the partnership with Merging Technologies, viewing the relationship as beneficial for navigating the complexities of ST 2110 integration. According to Kapes, ongoing efforts with Merging are focused on ensuring continuous improvements in performance and customer satisfaction as they expand their ST 2110 product line.
