MRMC has announced the upcoming launch of the Super Milo, a cutting-edge camera rig that combines precision with high-speed capabilities.
Scheduled for release this July, the Super Milo aims to set a new standard in visual effects creation, offering unmatched, repeatable camera movements that will become indispensable for modern cinematographers.
Enhanced Performance
Building on the legacy of the Academy award-winning Milo, known for its precise macro movements, the Super Milo introduces significant improvements in speed, acceleration, reach, and quick assembly. The rig can achieve speeds of up to 3 meters per second on track and 5 meters per second with combined camera movement. It is equipped with advanced brushless motors, achieving speeds up to 100% faster and accelerations up to 400% quicker than the original Milo. The Super Milo can support a camera payload of 35 kilograms.
Design and Versatility
The Super Milo’s design allows for smooth, stable movements from below ground level to a maximum height of 6.1 meters. The rig features easy-to-fit extensions for flexible shooting configurations and electronic lifting actuators that streamline track setup. This makes the Super Milo ideal for high-precision, high-speed work, including macro, tabletop, CGI, and live-action shooting. The setup process takes under an hour, thanks to an electric jacking system that expedites rail assembly.
Industry Impact
Assaff Rawner, CEO of MRMC, highlighted the enduring success of the original Milo as a benchmark in the industry due to its stability, reliability, and quality results. He stated, “It was once seemingly impossible to conceive that there could be an improved version of this rig. Yet it is so. The Super Milo will continue to provide an example of MRMC’s commitment to excellence in cinematography and demonstrates our latest advancements in macro and high-speed robotic camera technology.”
