BCE Announces New Chief Technology Officer: Sylvain Merle

BCE has appointed Sylvain Merle as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Sylvain brings extensive experience in technology and media leadership to the role.

As the CTO, Sylvain Merle will manage and develop the technological activities at Broadcasting Centre Europe (BCE), which is part of RTL Group. He will report directly to Christophe Goossens, CEO of BCE, and will join the Executive Committee alongside Christophe Goossens, COO Frédéric Fiévez, and CFO Daniel Felgueiras Da Cunha.

Role and Responsibilities

In his new position, Sylvain will oversee all technical divisions within BCE. His duties include executing a strategic roadmap, aligning resources with company objectives, and collaborating closely with the COO to create innovative products and services. He will also contribute to strategic initiatives with the CEO and work with technical counterparts within RTL Group and external customers.

Background and Previous Experience

Sylvain Merle has over three decades of expertise in technology and media. Previously, he was the Group Chief Technology Officer at Orange / Globecast from January 2017 to April 2024, where he led the integration of advanced technologies and developed innovative solutions for global media services.

Before that, he served as the Chief Technology Officer at beIN Sports / beIN Media Group from July 2013 to December 2016, ensuring the delivery of premium services during major sports broadcasts. From January 2009 to June 2013, Sylvain was the VP of Technical Operations & Broadcast Director for France & Benelux at Fox International Channels, overseeing technical operations for channel distribution across Europe.
