Tamron has officially announced the release of a new version of its 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 zoom lens, now compatible with Nikon Z mirrorless camera systems.
This lens, which was initially developed for Sony E-mount cameras and known for its compatibility with full-frame sensors, maintains its constant F/2.8 aperture across the zoom range and is equipped with a VXD linear focus motor for rapid autofocus.
Background and Development
The original model of the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lens was launched in 2018, targeting Sony E-mount camera users. A second generation (G2) of the lens, featuring an updated design and optics, was released in 2021. In September 2022, Tamron began expanding its lens offerings to include Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras, following up with the 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD lens. The announcement of the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 lens (codename: A063) for Nikon Z cameras marks a continuation of this expansion.
