The 50-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD (model A069) is a compact telephoto zoom lens, measuring 150mm (5.9 inches) when retracted and weighing 665g (23.5 ounces). It includes a zoom lock mechanism on the lens barrel to prevent lens expansion when zooming.
Designed exclusively for Sony E-Mount mirrorless cameras, this lens supports full-frame image sensors. It features a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear focus motor, ensuring fast and precise autofocus performance. Additionally, it is compatible with Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF focus modes.
The lens barrel includes a user-assignable Focus Set Button and a USB Type-C port for updates and customization through Tamron’s Lens Utility software. The lens construction includes multiple internal seals for moisture resistance. The Vibration Compensation motor aids in stabilizing shots across the zoom range.
Lens Construction
The 50-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD lens comprises 19 elements in 14 groups, featuring two XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and two LD (Low Dispersion) elements to minimize chromatic aberrations. The front element has a Fluorine coating for easy cleaning and added protection. The lens has a nine-blade circular aperture diaphragm, a minimum focusing distance of 22cm (8.7 inches) at 50mm, and a 67mm front filter thread.
