Tentacle Sync, a notable provider of audio recording solutions, recently introduced the final version of its firmware update 2.4.1 for the TRACK E audio recorders.
This update comes after the beta versions were available since October. New Features in the Update
The latest firmware update offers significant enhancements including:
- Timecode Output via Headphone Jack: The TRACK E devices can now output timecode through the headphone jack. This feature is available at two levels: 0dB and -18dB. However, for the TRACK E US version, timecode output during recording is restricted due to legal reasons.
- Push Notifications for Critical Alerts: Users can now receive push notifications on their phones for critical battery levels, recording errors, and alerts for low remaining recording time. These notifications are functional even when the Tentacle Setup App is running in the background.
Updated Tentacle Setup App
Alongside the firmware update, the Tentacle Setup App for iOS and Android has also been updated. Users need to update this app to access the new features. The app now allows for the routing selection for headphone out, enabling the sending of timecode via cable.
Compatibility with Apple Watch
The updated Setup App also includes new functionalities for Apple Watch users. With this update, Apple Watch wearers can synchronize their Tentacle devices and control the start/stop functions of the TRACK E audio recorders directly from their watch.
Integration with GoPro 12 and Timebar App
In another development, the integration with GoPro 12 cameras has been enhanced. The GoPro 12, which now supports timecode synchronization, can work in tandem with SYNC E or TRACK E devices and the free Timebar App. This integration enables the generation and display of a QR timecode that the GoPro 12 can read, ensuring that video files are recorded with embedded timecode.
