Teradek, Serv 4K: Firmware Version 2.21 Update with WiFi Hotspot and Bug Fixes

Teradek has rolled out the Version 2.21 firmware update for its Serv 4K device.

This update introduces new features, enhances existing functionalities, and addresses several bugs.

New Features
  • WiFi Hotspot: The update enables Wi-Fi to be used as a hotspot, allowing the device to share its Internet connectivity.
  • Sidecar Metadata File: Users can now enable a sidecar metadata file with their recordings.
  • AWS S3 Cloud Service: The update adds the ability to sync recording file uploads with the AWS S3 cloud service.
Changes and Improvements
  • Fan Control: The fan now turns off while recording in camera-triggered mode.
  • License Entry: The license entry field now supports right-click to paste.
  • Network Interface Support: There is added support for multiple network interfaces connecting to the same subnet.
  • Remote App Access: Remote app access can now be disabled through system settings.
  • Security Updates: Various security updates and improvements have been implemented.
  • Ethernet Configuration: Ethernet static IP can now be configured via the front panel on devices with a directional joystick.
Bug Fixes
  • Failover Generator: The failover generator did not start if the encoder booted with no video, and resolution/bitrate were set to Auto.
  • Video Encoder: The video encoder failed to start if the source was connected after bootup and resolution/bitrate were set to Auto.
  • Front Panel Freeze: The front panel interface could freeze if recording was enabled without media selected.
  • Audio Stream Drops: Audio stream drops were fixed when the Audio Bitrate was configured at or above 512kbps.
  • WebUI Audio Bars: The audio bars on WebUI were not updated based on audio channel selection.
  • File Downloads: The recorded file browser was creating file downloads with the names of other clips.
  • Deinterlacer Issues: The deinterlacer could cause poor video quality, which has been resolved.
  • HEVC Encoding: Improvements were made to interlaced HEVC encoding for better video quality.
  • Wi-Fi Network Switching: Switching between saved Wi-Fi networks did not always work correctly.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Dialog: The Wi-Fi connection dialog did not always disappear after connecting to a network.
  • Name Server Configuration: Name server and domain were sometimes not configured when connecting to Wi-Fi.
  • Wi-Fi AP Advertisement: The Wi-Fi AP advertisement was publishing an incorrect security mode.
  • Core Firmware Check: The core firmware check would display “Checking” until the device’s local web UI was loaded.
  • RED Clipnames: A “0” in the wildcard of RED clipnames was saved as an open bracket “[“.
  • Recording Trigger: Stopping a recording from a camera while recording is “Waiting” would trigger another recording.
  • Device Name Display: Serv 4K V2 was incorrectly showing up as Prism Flex in Frame.io.
  • Modem APNs: Custom modem APNs were not being saved correctly.
  • Stream Preset Accounts: The add account button for stream presets was displayed even after the account was configured.
