Early 2024 Release Scheduled for Tieline MPX II Codecs

Tieline, a company specializing in codec technology, is thrilled to announce the upcoming availability of its latest innovation, the MPX II codec, set to start shipping in January 2024.

Tieline’s MPX codecs offer advanced solutions for the composite FM multiplex (MPX), facilitating real-time distribution of FM-MPX or compressed MicroMPX (µMPX) signals to various transmitter locations. The MPX II stands out for its ability to transport two separate composite FM-MPX signals from the studio to the transmitter, including real-time return monitoring. It supports a diverse range of connections, including analog MPX on BNC, MPX over AES192, and multipoint signal distribution, ensuring a broad spectrum of encoder and decoder options for specialized needs.

Enhancing FM Radio Broadcasting
Charlie Gawley
, VP of Sales for APAC & EMEA at Tieline, highlights the impact of MPX II on FM broadcasting: “The MPX II significantly improves the efficiency of FM radio broadcasting. It enables broadcasters to handle baseband audio processing and RDS data insertion right from the studio. This not only reduces both capital and operational expenditures by removing the need for additional equipment at transmitter sites but also supports a smooth transition from analog to digital systems, enhancing the overall value of the MPX investment.”

Advanced Signal Support and Optional Features
The MPX II is versatile, supporting both the transmission of uncompressed full FM signals and high-quality compressed µMPX signals at substantially lower bit-rates. Furthermore, it includes an optional satellite tuner card, compatible with MPEG-TS and MPE, capable of receiving DVB-S or DVB-S2 signals.

Reliable Signal Distribution and Redundancy
The codec excels in distributing composite MPX over IP signals. It uses multicast and multi-unicast technologies for effective replication and distribution. The MPX II is also equipped with robust redundancy features such as redundant streaming, RIST, FEC, and an automated SD card file failover system, ensuring consistent, reliable performance.

Contact and Future Announcements
For additional details or to purchase the MPX II, interested parties are advised to contact their preferred dealer or the Tieline sales team. Moreover, the release date for the MPX I codec will be shared in the upcoming New Year.
