Tilta has introduced the VT05, a new carbon fiber travel tripod aimed at video professionals on the go.
This tripod is designed to offer a compact, lightweight solution with features typically found in larger, more expensive models.
Tripod Features and Specifications
The Tilta VT05 tripod is constructed with 10-layer diamond cross-woven carbon fiber, making it both durable and lightweight. It features 4-sectioned legs with diameters of 25, 22, 19, and 16mm, connected by aluminum alloy parts. The tripod includes a two-stage detachable center column that allows for extended height or extremely low angles. When reversed, the column enables a minimum shooting height of 5.12 inches (130mm).
The maximum working height with the center column fully extended is 63 inches (1600mm), while the minimum height, with the column mounted normally, is 9 inches (230mm). The tripod can handle a maximum payload of 22lb (10kg). When collapsed, the tripod measures 23.23 x 5.75 x 5.5 inches (590mm length) and weighs 4.41lb (2kg). It is available in two colors: space gray and forest green. The legs feature semi-automatic locks for quick angle adjustments and can switch between rubber feet and metal spikes.
Fluid Head Features
The fluid head on the Tilta VT05 tripod is notable for its compact design and functionality. It supports a maximum payload of 11lb (5kg) and offers a 180° tilt range (-90° to +90°) along with a 360° panoramic base for smooth horizontal panning. The head features an ARCA Swiss receiver with a quick-release plate, which can be rotated 90° to allow for direct mounting of a camera on a cage.
Additionally, the head includes multiple 1/4″-20 mounting threads with locating pins for attaching accessories. It also has a telescopic adjustable pan handle and an integrated leveling bowl for quick balancing. A magnet-attached flathead screwdriver is integrated into the design.
Pricing and Availability
The Tilta VT05 travel tripod is now available for purchase. The standard retail price is $299, but it is being offered at a 10% discount, reducing the price to $269 until August 21. Pre-orders are expected to ship within a week.
