Topaz Labs, a prominent company in AI upscaling software development, has released Gigapixel Pro.
This new version is available both as a standalone application and as a plugin, allowing users to increase image resolution by up to 600%. Gigapixel Pro is reported to operate twice as fast as the standard Gigapixel version and can be run from the command line.
Target Audience and Applications
While photographers and graphic designers are the primary users of this application, filmmakers can also benefit from it. In recent years, deep-learning algorithms in upscaling apps have become increasingly valuable. For example, filmmakers working on documentary edits with numerous low-quality archive pictures can enhance them using Gigapixel Pro. Additionally, social media clips made from photos that need various animations can benefit from this AI upscaling, which enlarges images with minimal quality loss.
Key Features of Topaz Lab Gigapixel Pro
Gigapixel Pro performs the same tasks as its predecessor but with greater speed, precision, and additional features. It can enlarge digital images, including photos and computer-generated visuals, by up to 6X, reaching up to 32,000 pixels wide. Topaz Labs uses machine learning to maintain the sharpness of upscaled images by filling in missing details with AI.

The most significant update is the increased speed, with Gigapixel Pro running twice as fast as the standard version. Additionally, it includes a Command Line Interface (CLI) feature, allowing seamless integration with existing software systems.
Subscription Model for Studios
A notable difference between the standard and Pro versions is that Gigapixel Pro is subscription-only. Features vary depending on the plan, with many tailored for large studios. For instance, seat-management control allows multiple team members to upscale images simultaneously. Gigapixel Pro is used by major studios in fields ranging from gaming and graphics to commercial printing and satellite imagery.
Pricing and Availability
Topaz Labs’ products are known for their high cost, and Gigapixel Pro is no exception. Different pricing models are available for individuals, teams, and enterprises, but all are relatively expensive. The subscription model means users cannot purchase a perpetual license as they can with the standard Gigapixel version. Instead, the Pro subscription renews annually at the same price. Studios with revenue over $1 million per year must obtain a new Pro license.
