Uniguest, 4K Encoder: Low Latency for Live Events

In today’s fast-paced world, where technology is constantly evolving, it’s crucial to have reliable and efficient tools for broadcasting live events. Uniguest stands out as a powerful solution for those looking to stream high-quality content with minimal delay. Let’s explore how this tool can enhance your live broadcasts and make them more engaging for viewers. 360 Seconds. Broadcast News & Commentary is a weekly program on Youtube about the latest equipment for broadcasting and film. Explained by experts – practitioners directly working in the field of cinema and television.

Pax: Uniguest has introduced a 4K edition of its Low Latency Encoder, delivering superior encoding and streaming at 4K resolution, designed for live events and communications. What do you think about this, Philip?

Philip: I honestly had not heard of the brand before. As I looked over their history, they really come out of the hospitality market, so it’s interesting to see the extension. In our industry, we typically refer to it as AV as opposed to professional broadcast video. I don’t know if it’s necessarily targeted towards the hospitality industry, but they have a name brand in that market, so I think it’s great from that perspective. They call it low latency; it’s 170 milliseconds, I believe, for their UHD, which is just over five frames, approaching six frames latency. In a live event environment, that’s pretty good for hotels, being able to offer this to their customers to stream events in a relatively low-cost way. I think it’s a great product with some industry opportunities because of the positioning of Uniguest and the market it’s in, the hospitality industry.

Pax: Many thanks to our expert Philip Grossman. Don’t forget to comment on the news we’ve discussed. Just let us know your thoughts. We’ll see you next Monday. Thank you and goodbye.

Hosts: Philip Grossman, host and co-producer at Visionaries, and Ezequiel “Pax” Moore. Production – TKT1957 LLC. Airing on June 17, 2024.
