USSI Global has been designated as a Gold Partner for 2024 by ST Engineering iDirect for its broadcast services in North America.
This role entrusts USSI Global with responsibilities including sales, customer service, and technical support for ST Engineering iDirect’s broadcast solutions in the United States and Canada. This includes the MCX8000 multi-carrier satellite gateway, a new product offering.
Ongoing Collaborations and Service Enhancements
The partnership between USSI Global and ST Engineering iDirect is not new, having previously collaborated on projects such as the FCC’s C-band transition for 5G services. USSI Global has contributed to this initiative by installing necessary modulators and other equipment to facilitate broadcasters’ shift to new C-band frequencies.
USSI Global’s in-depth knowledge of ST Engineering iDirect’s products, combined with its substantial team of field support technicians and established relationships with North American broadcasters, underpins this strengthened partnership. Additionally, broadcasters using ST Engineering iDirect hardware can now access USSI Global’s 24/7 monitoring and preventative maintenance services.
Strategic Benefits of Satellite in Broadcasting
Darren Ludington, Regional Vice President Americas at ST Engineering iDirect, emphasized the vital role of satellite technology in broadcasting, especially in areas with limited connectivity. The MCX8000 satellite gateway is designed to meet the high demands for uptime and reliability that broadcasters need. Ludington also highlighted the shift towards integrating service layers with hardware to enhance IP over satellite distribution, an area where USSI Global’s managed services experience will be pivotal.
Promising Early Outcomes and Future Plans
Lincoln Biederbeck, USSI Global’s Vice President of Business Development, reported initial successful deals for new installations of ST Engineering iDirect technology and renewals of service level agreements with existing clients. These developments are crucial for advancing a service model that promises more managed services and technological upgrades in the future.
Upcoming Event Participation
Both companies will showcase their partnership and the MCX8000 at the upcoming NAB Show 2024. They will occupy a shared space in the West Hall hospitality suite (W4772) of the Las Vegas Convention Centre from April 14-17, marking USSI Global’s return to the NAB exhibit floor for the first time since 2008.
